Hosted by Rhian-Mari Thomas CEO, Green Finance Institute Rhian-Mari Thomas is Chief Executive of the Green Finance Institute, an independent organisation at the forefront of shaping how finance can be used to facilitate real economy transition. Rhian spent 20 years in investment banking and corporate finance and was the first person to be awarded an OBE for services to green banking. She is an emeritus member of TCFD, co-chaired the launch of the TNFD and has served as a senior adviser to the TNFD since its inception in June 2021. Guests Tony Goldner Chief Executive Officer, TNFD For over two decades, Tony has advised government, financial sector and philanthropic leaders on a range of strategic challenges at the intersection of business, finance and public policy. These include centre of government reform, national economic development strategy and the architecting of green finance investment opportunities. He began his career in the Australian diplomatic service before moving into the private sector, first in investment banking where he focused on infrastructure project financing and then in strategy consulting as a Partner at Monitor Deloitte and as an adviser with the World Bank Group. Letícia Guimarães Vale Leticia Guimarães has 14 years of experience working with managing and mitigating biodiversity risk of mining operations. She leads Vale’s Nature Strategy, stakeholder engagement and TNFD pilot and early adoption process, spearheading multidisciplinary collaboration within and outside of the company. Leticia holds a Bachelors in Biology and Masters in Zoology from PUC Minas in Brazil. Owain Griffiths Head of Circular Economy & Biodiversity – Global Sustainability, Volvo Owain Griffiths is responsible globally for leading Volvo Cars’ transformation to becoming a circular business. He covers all aspects of business operations including manufacturing and supply chain, ensuring that the entire lifecycle of Volvo’s vehicles is optimised for circularity. He joined Volvo in 2021, having previously led circular economy strategy at consultancy Oakdene Hollins. Current hot topics include closing material loops, understanding impact beyond CO2 to consider water and biodiversity and developing the 2040 circular business plan. Oliver Withers Head of Nature, Standard Chartered Oliver Withers is Head of Nature Finance at Standard Chartered and leads the Nature Positive Solutions innovation hub, working with colleagues across the group to further integrate biodiversity and nature considerations into the firm's business activities and decision-making. He was previously Global Head of Biodiversity at Credit Suisse, working on transactions such as the world’s first conservation outcomes-bond and sovereign debt for nature swaps. Before this, Oliver was the Head of Conservation Finance and Enterprise at the Zoological Society of London Oliver began his career in financial services, where he ultimately became the head of asset management for a pan-African investment bank before pursuing a career in sustainability and nature finance. José Pugas Founder and Head of ESG, JGP José Pugas is Partner and Head of ESG and Engagement at JGP Asset Management and Founding Partner and Chief Sustainability Officer of Regia Capital, a JV between Banco do Brasil and JGP for developing Sustainable Investments at Global South. He is a political scientist with more than 20 years of experience in sustainability and finance, leading several projects in Brazil and Latin America. Currently, José Pugas is a professor and member of the boards of Think tanks on sustainable finance, climate policies and philanthropy, such as GFANZ Brazil, Chapter Zero Brazill and Talanoa Institute for Climate Policies.
