Home » WebinarsBridging the capacity gap on nature : Session 2 Date 20th February 2025 Collection Public Webinars Responding to market needs for upskilling on nature-related issues, the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) released two new capacity-building tools for market participants and for third-party training providers. Enhancing access to consistent, quality information is needed to scale up business action. This webinar introduced two new tools to address the capacity gaps on nature and support organisations in assessing, managing, and disclosing their nature-related issues, which are both now available online in the Knowledge Hub – the Trainer Portal and Learning Lab. The Trainer Portal provides a suite of white-label modules for trainers, educational institutions, and consultations to adapt into their own training materials whilst sessions to others, while the Learning Lab is a self-paced educational tool for upskilling individuals on nature-related assessment and reporting. Hosted by Tony Goldner Chief Executive Officer, TNFD For over two decades, Tony has advised government, financial sector and philanthropic leaders on a range of strategic challenges at the intersection of business, finance and public policy. These include centre of government reform, national economic development strategy and the architecting of green finance investment opportunities. He began his career in the Australian diplomatic service before moving into the private sector, first in investment banking where he focused on infrastructure project financing and then in strategy consulting as a Partner at Monitor Deloitte and as an adviser with the World Bank Group. Guests Rhys Thomas Senior Communications & Content Manager, TNFD Rhys’s experience is across communications, external affairs, creative, content production, and partnerships specialising in climate change and sustainability. Rhys holds an MSc in Sustainable Business and Joint BA in Geography and Politics from the University of Leeds. After his Master’s, Rhys moved to Australia where he co-founded an ethical leadership training and development organization before moving back to London in 2019 where he joined the international media house, Climate Action Media, holding senior leadership roles in content and communications. Before TNFD, he led strategic communications, content and events strategy at the international NGO Climate Group, leading the content development for Climate Week NYC among other major projects and programmes. Rhys is currently based in London. Helen Beddow Education and Learning Director, Global Canopy Helen has significant experience translating technical and academic information into accessible and action-oriented learning materials and content. She has a background in climate change research and began her career in climate science at Utrecht University, researching changes in the Antarctic ice sheet over millions of years before moving into academic publishing. During her time in publishing, Helen led projects commissioning and developing executive education learning products and materials. She had the opportunity to bring both worlds together working on climate risk education in the climate tech space before joining Global Canopy as Education and Learning Director in 2023. She has been seconded from Global Canopy into the TNFD to lead education and training as part of the TNFD’s ongoing work on capacity building.
