Overview

Welcome to the Trainer Portal – your gateway to adaptable white label training materials designed to build nature capabilities across a range of roles, sectors and regions.

To scale up business action on nature, we need clear, consistent language and high-quality educational materials.

Developed by the TNFD and the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, this white label training content supports training providers, educational institutions and consultants worldwide to develop their own educational material on the TNFD recommendations and guidance.

To access these materials, you must create a trainer profile and agree to the Responsible Use Guidelines.

Trainer Modules

These resources equip training providers, educational institutions and consultants with a core suite of training materials that serve as a foundation for developing and delivering training programmes to corporates and financial institutions on nature-related issues and the TNFD recommendations and guidance.

These white label materials act as building blocks for trainers to adapt and customise with their own branding, case studies and regional insights. Designed for those delivering training on nature-related issues, they include PowerPoint decks, guidance notes and exercises. Trainers should begin with the trainer handbook before exploring and adapting the materials.

The materials are structured into modules for three key audiences – practitioners, senior leaders and boards – guiding learners from global context to practical application within their organisations.

Practitioner modules

For those in operational roles needing to understand nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities.

Senior leader modules

For leaders integrating nature into strategic, tactical and operational decision-making and execution.

Board modules

For board members with oversight responsibilities for ensuring nature is embedded as a core strategic and risk management issue.

Trainer FAQs

What is in the Trainer Portal?

The Trainer Portal contains training materials set out as a series of modules that together form a coherent learning journey to guide learners from the bigpicture global context down to their specific organisation and how they can take things forward in practice. The training modules have been designed as universal learning materials that are meant to be adapted by trainers to add regional, sector or function context to meet the needs of specific audiences.

What do we mean by white label?

The materials have been designed as white label, which means that trainers should adapt the training materials into their own training offering in line with the Responsible Use Guidelines and apply their logos and branding to the materials.

The white label training materials have been developed by the TNFD in collaboration with the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) adapted from the TNFD recommendations and guidance in consultation with Global Canopy, UNEP FI, WBCSD, CDP, UN SSE, BIOFIN and WWF.

Assessing, managing and reporting on nature-related issues is a cross-functional endeavour. A broad range of roles and functions within organisations, across a range of sectors, need to consider the implications of nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities in their work and integrate nature into their strategic, tactical and operational decision-making and execution.

Who can use the Trainer portal?

The Trainer Portal is designed for organisations that deliver educational and capacitybuilding courses in the sustainable finance ecosystem. If your organisation wishes to access and use these materials, you must first create a profile and sign our Responsible Use Guidelines.

What materials are included?

  • A training handbook to support the use and implementation of the training material into existing courses and curricula
  • 22 downloadable trainer modules that consist of PowerPoint slide decks and accompanying guidance notes
  • A supporting set of case study slides that trainers can choose from to add to their training materials
  • Responsible Use Guidelines that must be signed by all trainers before they download the content

Step three – Read the trainer handbook

Step four – Download the materials

Are the training materials ready to deliver?

No. The training materials are building blocks that provide a set of foundational content for trainers to adapt – they are not ready to be delivered as they are. To use the materials, trainers must:

  • Know who their target audience is and their current knowledge level
  • Select the materials that fit their audience needs, training objectives and length of training session
  • Adapt the materials for their audience, adding additional materials such as regional context or case studies
  • Add their own branding, logos and design features
  • Translate materials into the local language where necessary
  • Tailor exercises to match their audience needs – or use their own tried and tested exercises

Where should I start?

We recommend trainers start by creating a profile and reading the trainer handbook.

What do we mean by white label?

White label training materials provide the basic building blocks for trainers to create their own training materials. They are unbranded so that trainers can download them for free and apply their own branding.

What delivery format are the materials designed for?

The training materials have been designed for live presentation and workshop-style events delivered in person and online. They may be adapted for online delivery by experienced online learning organisations.

How should trainers adapt the materials?

Trainers may customise the materials to suit the needs of their audience, regional and sector specific context as well as length and format of training. Trainers know their audiences and regional context best and have the flexibility to select what resonates the most.

Are the materials going to be translated?

The materials will only be available in English. Trainers may translate the materials following the Responsible Use Guidelines. The TNFD recommendations and guidance have been translated into several languages and provide a starting point for translation.

Are the training materials different to TNFD in a Box?

Yes. TNFD in a Box provides a set of workshop-style presentation decks that visually summarise the TNFD recommendations and guidance. The white label training materials are specifically designed for trainers to adapt and deliver through their own training programmes and learning experiences.

How were the training materials developed?

The training materials have been developed by the TNFD in collaboration with the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) adapted from the TNFD recommendations and guidance, in consultation with Global Canopy, UNEP FI, WBCSD, CDP, UN SSE, BIOFIN and WWF.

Does the TNFD certify the training?

The TNFD does not certify any training. Trainers may certify adapted courses through their own certification processes.

Can I combine these training materials with other existing nature-related resources?

Yes, you can integrate existing nature-related training materials into your sessions. We encourage trainers to build on established resources to enhance learning and provide relevant context. Approved sources include:
