The TNFD was delighted to partner with CIELO Mex to convene a workshop in Mexico City on June 2023 with the participation of seven Indigenous Enterprises. The participants included manufacturers of jipijapa hats, mezcal, amaranth products, prickly pear cactus products, as well as providers of cactus seed propagation and planting. The dependencies and impacts of the businesses on nature were analysed as well as the ecosystem services that they generate, which go beyond their site boundaries. The Indigenous Enterprises confirmed their commitment to caring for, conserving and preserving nature, mitigating risks and making more of the opportunities. When carrying out the exercise, participants said they: Became aware of their realities from a different perspective; Understood and learned new methodologies; Observed in a systematic way how their businesses are contributing positively to conservation of biodiversity; Gained a deeper understanding of the degrees of dependence they have on the ecosystems they inhabit and the opportunities they have now and in the future.
