Consultation & Engagement
TNFD is adopting an open innovation approach that encourages market participants to co-create the TNFD framework. The Taskforce is looking for comments and feedback on all aspects of the framework. TNFD’s consultation and engagement efforts are designed to facilitate feedback from market participants across a wide range of countries and sectors.
Engagement or participation in the piloting of the TNFD beta framework or application of the framework does not mean TNFD endorses the member or participant’s business activities or conduct.
The interactive TNFD framework platform
Market participants and other stakeholders can review the latest beta version of the framework and provide feedback via the interactive online platform.
Corporates and financial institutions can pilot test the TNFD framework to explore how it would apply in their specific organisational context. The TNFD Piloting Guide sets out why and how to pilot test.
TNFD’s official piloting partners include FSD Africa via the African Natural Capital Finance Alliance (ANCA), Global Canopy, the International Council on Mining and Minerals (ICMM), UNEP-FI, AFD, and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). Pilot testing will run until 1 June 2023.
In select countries and regions, a private sector convenor organises informal groups of institutions, named Consultation Groups, that want to participate constructively in the development and adoption of TNFD’s global framework.
Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities engagement
To ensure the voices and perspectives of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities are incorporated into the design and development phase of the TNFD framework, the TNFD is partnering with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) to leverage their global networks and relationships with Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities as part of the engagement process.
Based on the feedback provided by market participants through the interactive platform pilots and Consultation Groups, the TNFD will convene Focus Group discussions around key emerging themes, or by geography or sector, to engage feedback providers in further detail.
Nature-related Data Catalyst
Building on the Nature-related Data Landscape paper issued by the TNFD in March 2022, the Nature-related Data Catalyst will look to convene a range of market participants from across the nature-related data landscape. The goal of the Data Catalyst is to address shortcomings in the current landscape of nature-related data, while also identifying and encouraging the development of, and access to, nature-related data, analytics and tools that can improve the ease, speed, and scale of adoption of the TNFD framework, once the Taskforce launches its full recommended framework in September 2023.
Join the TNFD Forum
