The TNFD Secretariat supports and coordinates the activities of the Taskforce members, including developing and implementing the strategy of the TNFD; the organisation of the work program and meetings of the Taskforce; technical research with knowledge partners; the design of market capability building initiatives with delivery partners; and media, communications and stakeholder engagement.

Tony Goldner

Executive Director, TNFD

Tony has significant experience working at the intersection of finance, sustainable development and diplomacy. Prior to joining the TNFD in September 2021, Tony was an adviser to government, financial sector and philanthropic leaders on a range of sustainable development challenges, including as a Senior Adviser with the World Bank Group.

As a Partner at the strategy consultancy Monitor Deloitte, Tony led the development of national reform strategies at both a country and city level and advised government leaders on the design of governance arrangements and performance management frameworks for mobilizing strategic investment capital and delivery of policy outcomes aligned to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He was a senior member of Monitor Group’s global public sector advisory practice, has advised Fortune 500 US companies on their sustainability strategy and co-authored a seminal 2008 report on the investment behavior of Sovereign Wealth Funds.

Earlier in his career, Tony worked in infrastructure development and corporate finance in Australia and began his career in the Australian foreign service including a diplomatic posting in East Africa as a representative to UNEP and UN Habitat.

He graduated as a Littauer Fellow from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and has degrees from Monash University and Sydney University.

Emily McKenzie

Technical Director, TNFD

Emily has significant experience on integrating nature in policy, finance, economics and decision-making. Prior to joining TNFD in November 2021, she led the analytical team that produced the global Dasgupta Review on the Economics of Biodiversity, based at the UK Economics and Finance Ministry.

Emily was previously seconded to the Capitals Coalition where she helped develop the Natural Capital Protocol in its Technical Group.

Emily worked for a decade in the WWF Global Science team, where she helped establish and lead the Natural Capital Project at Stanford University, helping decision-makers apply InVEST – leading ecosystem service modelling software. While at WWF, she supported The Coca Cola Company and Guggenheim Partners to consider dependencies and impacts on nature, and sustainability standards.

She helped design the Environmental Land Management scheme in England – a major national agricultural subsidy reform programme – based at the UK Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). Other previous roles included establishing environmental economics programmes at the Joint Nature Conservation Committee and the Pacific Islands Applied Geoscience Commission as an Overseas Development Institute Fellow.

She holds Masters degrees in International Policy from Stanford University and Economics at the University of Cambridge.

Barbara Sanderson

Barbara has significant experience in governance, change management and driving international expansion, gained within the commercial and not-for-profit sectors.

For over 20 years Barbara held a variety of leadership roles in international investment management, specialising in product development, strategic marketing and governance. She helped launch an award-winning green bond fund in partnership with Affirmative Investment Management before joining Climate Bonds Initiative to help mobilise global capital for climate action.

Prior to joining TNFD, at Pure Leapfrog, a UK charity, Barbara collaborated with several government departments and local authorities on financing climate action and nature restoration.

Having acted as Vice-Chair of the Paris Chapter of a global professional network “100 Women in Finance”, Barbara now serves on the Technical Board of a pioneering rewilding carbon standard, Wilder Carbon. She is also an enthusiastic contributor to the Financing a Just Transition Alliance at the Gresham Research Institute/LSE.

Barbara graduated in Marketing and Management from Kozminsky University and holds a Masters in Linguistics from the English Department of the University of Warsaw.

In addition to her native Polish, Barbara speaks English and French.

Candice is an accomplished business leader known for driving sustainable growth, with 20+ years of experience in global financial services where she has most recently worked for the London Stock Exchange Group and prior to that Bloomberg.

She has deep expertise in sustainable finance, asset management, investment banking, commercial banking, corporates, central banks, exchanges, fintech and data.

Candice has extensive global sales, business development, customer and strategy execution leadership experience across the UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa.

She is passionate about connecting ecosystem partners and stakeholders for greater impact and has established networks across financial services, developing and mature markets, and public and private sector.

Candice lives in Johannesburg and enjoys traveling, nature, trail running and trekking.

Renu leads the communications and content team at TNFD. She manages internal communications as well as external communications and events with our wide range of stakeholders.

Renu has over twenty years’ experience as a communications practitioner. She began her career in book publishing where she trained as an editor and worked across both the editorial and marketing functions, before joining The Economist to establish the organisation’s first communications department.

She led communications and marketing at SFM llp and was director of business development,  communications and marketing at the think tank, Bruegel. She then went on to  hold senior full-time communications advisory roles at Goldman Sachs Asset Management and the Private Infrastructure Development Group.

Renu has a BA Hons degree in English Language and Literature and PGCE in Education.

Nathalie Borgeaud

Nathalie Borgeaud has significant experience in the financial industry, with a longstanding focus on sustainability. Prior to joining TNFD in February 2022, Nathalie worked for a start-up, now a Moody’s subsidiary, promoting data on physical climate risk and nature loss among European financial institutions. Before that, she worked as senior co-director for Corporate Social Responsibility at BNP Paribas CIB. She designed and implemented a sustainable development strategy, which included monitoring Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) risks and developing green financial product offerings. She built her finance career negotiating large complex financings for corporate clients with BNP Paribas and JPMorgan Chase for about twelve years. Initially based in New York with Citi, she originated project finance, bonds and equity issues for large industrial projects key to the development of emerging countries.

Nathalie is an ingénieur of the French Grande Ecole Mines-ParisTech. She also holds an MBA from HEC Paris and a landscape architect degree from Ecole du Paysage de Versailles.

Based in Paris, Nathalie speaks French, English, and Italian.

Cathrine is the global Director of Data Initiatives for the Task Force on Nature Related Disclosures (TNFD).

Previously she was Chief Responsible Investment Solutions Officer for the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI). Leading the delivery of PRI’s 2023 Reporting Cycle a 98.5% uptake of members reporting was achieved following redesign of the reporting framework, reporting tool and data platform.

She is a seasoned leader of strategic, policy-centric organisations – leveraging science and technology to achieve cross-cutting innovation and research. During her tenure as Chief Customer Officer at the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO), Cathrine led the organisations global commercial portfolio, realising annual revenues more than £160m, delivering marine data solutions that support safe, secure, and thriving oceans.

Having founder her career in geospatial data and technology she is an advocate for open data and committed to the value of data in answering mission critical questions in global policy development and decision-making including commercialisation and economic development. This has included establishing the Southwest Centre of Excellence for Satellite Applications as inaugural Director, founding Ordnance Survey’s Award Winning ‘Geovation’ Accelerator and Hub and leading the international Eye on Earth programme for global cooperation in the use and access of environmental data for sustainable development.

Cathrine holds a BSc Environmental Studies from James Cook University, Postgraduate Certificate in Business and Technology from the University of New South Wales, and studied sustainability, leadership and impact at Said Business School, University of Oxford. She is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, and presently serves as an Advisory Board Member for the National Centre for Earth Observation, and Independent Member of the Board of Governors, Falmouth University.

Currently she is completing a Master of Science in Applied Positive Psychology. Her academic interest lay at nexus of activist leadership, decision intelligence, and environment and society.

Jade joined the TNFD in 2023 as an Executive Assistant supporting the Communications, Capacity Building and Stakeholder Engagement teams.

Jade has 8 years’ experience working within operations and marketing. Prior to joining the TNFD, Jade spent almost 2 years as an Executive & Operations Assistant supporting the C-Suite of a global technology consulting firm. Whilst there she worked on a number of projects and was also the Manchester Office Manager. Before this, Jade worked for a Barristers Chambers as a Marketing Assistant for 6 years, supporting the senior clerk and the practice groups within Chambers with all admin and marketing related tasks.

Jade holds a degree in Business Management from Manchester Metropolitan University and is based in Northwest England.

Prior to joining TNFD’s technical team in February 2022, Blanche worked at the Green Finance Institute (GFI), where she divided her time between their UK Green Taxonomy and Nature programmes. She was part of the Green Technical Advisory Group (GTAG) and the Land, Nature and Adapted Systems (LNAS) Advisory Group secretariat, working closely with the UK Government to draft Technical Screening Criteria (TSC) to define sustainable UK fisheries and agriculture for the UK Green Taxonomy, and focused on the former. Within the Nature Programme, Blanche researched nature markets in the UK and globally.

Through a previous long internship at Planet First Partners (PFP), a growth equity impact fund classified as an Article 9 fund under the EU’s Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR), Blanche discovered her interest in impact investing and familiarised herself with fund governance processes, impact and performance monitoring as well as reporting as she conducted the impact due diligence process for all potential investments as part of the fund’s impact team.

Blanche holds an MSc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London, where she specialised in energy policy and technologies, and a First Class BSc in History and Politics with Economics from Durham University. Based in London, Blanche speaks French, English, Spanish and German.

Bayarlkham has experience across environmental research, green project lending, asset management, environmental project management, public finance and accounting. Prior to joining TNFD in February 2022, Bayarlkham worked as Finance Manager of the Permanent Mission of Mongolia to the United Nations. Previously, Bayarlkham worked as a National Project Coordinator for UNDP, leading a project on nationally appropriate mitigations actions in the construction sector. She was Founder & Coordinator for the Human Security and Environmental Sustainability Research Center in Mongolia.

She has also worked for Japan’s International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Schroders, the Asian Development Bank Institute and OPMAC.

She holds an MSc in environmental sustainability from the University of Tokyo and an MSc in banking and finance from the University of Luxembourg.

Laura has a multi-disciplined background, which spans environmental research, consultancy, sustainability disclosures and policy. Before joining TNFD, Laura was the biodiversity lead within the Climate Disclosure Standards Board’s technical team, developing material on natural capital including the Biodiversity Application Guidance. Prior to this, Laura has been involved in the production of the British Ecological Society’s policy-focused landmark report on Nature-Based Solutions to Climate Change, has provided innovative sustainability consulting services using a total capital accounting framework and has worked as a Senior Economic Analyst at Ernst & Young.

Laura holds an MSc in Conversation and Biodiversity and a BA in Economics, and is also a qualified chartered accountant.

Andra Enuica

Communications and Engagement Officer, TNFD

Andra has a multi-disciplinary background which includes sustainability disclosure and research, Indigenous and environmental rights, and non-profit work. Prior to joining the TNFD team, she has worked in ESG research with Sustainalytics, as well as with People’s Planet Project, an Indigenous and environmental rights non-profit, in donor relations and MEL.

She holds an MSc in Sociology and Global Change from the University of Edinburgh and a BA in World Politics from Leiden University College The Hague.

Based in Romania, Andra speaks English, Romanian, Spanish, and some French.

Amélie has international work experience in Spain and UK. She is multi-lingual in French, Spanish, English, and Italian. Prior to joining the TNFD in January 2022, Amélie worked at Bureau Veritas Spain and Portugal. She started her collaboration as International Inspection Coordinator, followed by working as Executive Assistant to the SVP, Executive Chairman.

She holds a Master’s Degree in Foreign Languages applied to Business and Trade from the University of Paul Valéry (Montpellier III), France.

She is currently based in Barcelona.

Marianne Haahr

Lead, Support on Specific Guidance, TNFD

Marianne Haahr currently works with TNFD as lead support on specific guidance for the agriculture, fishing and aquaculture sectors. She is also the Nature-related Finance Lead at Global Canopy.

Prior to these roles, she served as Executive Director of the Green Digital Finance Alliance, a not-for-profit foundation working on scaling green finance with digital technologies, co-founded by UNEP. Marianne has served on the TNFD Informal Technical Expert Group and she has developed input papers for the G-20 Sustainable Finance Working Group on sustainable digital finance and for the UN SG’s Task Force for fintech and SDG’s. Marianne holds an MSc from Copenhagen University.

Amy Haselden

Operations Manager, TNFD

Amy has joined TNFD following a broad range of experience in the legal and property development markets. Amy has worked both within the UK and Australia over the past 10 years, supporting national and global legal firms as both an Executive Assistant and Executive Manager. She has extensive experience working with boutique start-up legal firms and supporting recommendations for regulatory change.

Prior to joining TNFD in 2023, Amy spent 2 years supporting the Directors of a start-up development company, part of a group structure focussing on pan-European investments in the green energy and property markets. Before returning to the UK in 2019, Amy lived in Australia working with and supporting greener farming methods and conservation at remote Outback Stations.

Amy holds a degree in law from Coventry University and is based in Wales, UK with her husband who is setting up a rewilding and conservation farming project. She speaks English, conversational French and is learning Welsh.

Tom Hegarty

Tom’s experience centres on building environmental sustainability into corporate strategies and creating innovative public policy to deliver more sustainable national economies.

Prior to joining the TNFD team, he was working at Systemiq. There he helped food companies, agri-input providers and investors to identify the risks and opportunities they face from climate change and nature loss and to develop strategies to address these. He previously worked at the UK finance and economics ministry, HM Treasury, looking at the distributional impacts of decarbonisation in the UK, and natural environment and agriculture policy.

Tom holds a Masters in the Economics of Public Policy from the Barcelona School of Economics (Universitat Pompeu Fabra and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona), and BA in Economics from the University of Cambridge.

Tom is based in Barcelona and speaks English, Spanish, French and German.

Gabriela Hermosilla

Gabriela splits her time between TNFD and UNEP FI, where she supports the TNFD GEF project, assisting financial institutions in their journey to understand nature-related risks and opportunities.

Bringing experience from the public, private and international sectors, Gabriela has previously worked for the AXA Group as a foresight analyst, assessing long-term societal and environmental risks. Previously, she worked for a GEF project within the Ministry of Environment of Brazil, assisting with national implementation of policies framework for chemicals (SAICM) and the Minamata Convention on Mercury.

Gabriela graduated from Sciences Po Paris with a Master in Finance for Development, specialising in financial inclusion and gender, and studied International Relations and Business Economics at the University of Brasilia (UnB) and Aarhus University during her undergraduate years.

Based in Paris, Gabriela speaks Portuguese, Spanish, English and French.

Before joining TNFD in March 2024, Alan served as a Senior Consultant in Climate Change and Sustainability Services at EY. During his time there, he played a key role in a pilot for the implementation of the TNFD LEAP methodology for a major mining company in Brazil, in addition to working on various other climate change and sustainability consulting projects.

Alan brings to TNFD a background in biodiversity monitoring, environmental conservation research, and data analysis, along with expertise in corporate sustainability strategy and disclosure.

During his undergraduate studies, Alan had the opportunity to work and intern throughout Brazil, including in the Cerrado, Amazon, Pantanal, and Atlantic Forest biomes. His work primarily focused on biodiversity conservation, monitoring, and environmental education programs.

Outside of his professional endeavours, Alan is actively involved in volunteer work, particularly in social projects aimed at supporting vulnerable individuals and minority groups, with a special emphasis on LGBTQIA+ youth.

Alan holds an MBA in Environmental Management from the University of São Paulo (USP) and a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences, also from USP. Based in São Paulo, Brazil, he is proficient in Brazilian Portuguese and English, with intermediate proficiency in Spanish.

Alessandra Melis

Senior Manager – Lead, Standards and regulatory engagement, TNFD

Alessandra has significant experience across financial regulation and supervision, risk assessment and sustainable finance. She is a Senior Manager in the Technical Team of the TNFD Secretariat, where she leads on the TNFD’s efforts on engagement with standard setters and regulators, along with leading support on the technical priorities around risk assessment and scenario analysis.

Before joining the TNFD, Alessandra was a consultant at the Risk Practice of McKinsey & Company in London, where she specialised on the impact of climate change on European banks’ risk management practices and GHG emissions portfolio pathways to reach Net Zero. During this time, she gained significant experience in climate risk approaches and methods for financial institutions and strategic portfolio decarbonisation.

Prior to McKinsey, Alessandra was part of the Risk Analysis and Stress Testing Unit at the European Banking Authority (EBA), where she gained valuable experience in EU banking regulation, risk and supervision, including stress testing practices and capital requirements regulation.

Alessandra holds an MSc in Banking and Finance from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, Italy.

Based in London, Alessandra speaks English, Italian and Brazilian Portuguese.

Timothée’s experience focuses on how to make environmental transformations and innovations a reality within the private sector. Prior to joining TNFD, Timothée worked for the World Benchmarking Alliance, where he led the research work of the Nature Benchmark and engaged with a high number of companies and other stakeholders to adopt meaningful nature-related strategies and actions.

Timothée’s career began as a consultant for LGI Consulting, where his work centred on scaling up water, transportation, and energy efficiency innovations and start-ups.

He holds an MSc in environmental sciences, policy and management (MESPOM) from the Central European University and the University of Manchester, and a Bachelor of Arts & Science from McGill University (Montréal, Canada).

Timothée is based in the Netherlands and speaks French, English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

Sejal Patel

Executive Assistant, TNFD

Sejal supports the TNFD Technical team. Prior to joining TNFD, Sejal has worked in operations and project management in FTSE 100 companies, managing teams and integrating projects across nine countries within the EMEA region.

A qualified project manager, she has both professional and lived experiences of developing programmes and processes, as well as supporting diverse and agile teams to reach successful outcomes.

Whilst working at a start-up in the pharmaceutical sector, Sejal worked closely with the CEO and board members to create systematic processes for business management procedures and trainings.

Sejal holds a BSC in Psychology with Sociology, and certificates as an NLP practitioner and Life Coach. She is currently studying to be level 3 Mindfulness practitioner.

Based in London, Sejal speaks English, Gujarati and basic Hindi.

Rhys Thomas

Rhys’s experience is across communications, external affairs, creative, content production, and partnerships specialising in climate change and sustainability.

Rhys holds an MSc in Sustainable Business and Joint BA in Geography and Politics from the University of Leeds.

After his Master’s, Rhys moved to Australia where he co-founded an ethical leadership training and development organization before moving back to London in 2019 where he joined the international media house, Climate Action Media, holding senior leadership roles in content and communications. Before TNFD, he led strategic communications, content and events strategy at the international NGO Climate Group, leading the content development for Climate Week NYC among other major projects and programmes.

Rhys is currently based in London.
