The Co-Chairs David Craig TNFD Co-Chair, TNFD Read biography David Craig is Co-Chair of the Taskforce for Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD). David has 30 years of experience in financial markets data and technology and is seen as a world expert in the data, technology and market infrastructure required to drive sustainable markets. David was the former founder and CEO of Refinitiv, one of the largest data and technology platform providers to financial markets with revenues of over $6.4B. David spearheaded the creation of Refinitiv, spinning out of Thomson Reuters with Blackstone, and the successful acquisition by LSEG for $27B in 2021, becoming head of LSEG Data and Analytics Division. He was previously founder and CEO of the Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) business and head of strategy at Thomson Reuters and Reuters plc. He spent 8 years as a partner at McKinsey focusing on technology and financial services clients. David is an Executive Fellow at London Business School Strategy and Entrepreneurship faculty. He is co-chair of the India UK Financial Partnership for TheCityUK, member of the City of London Competitiveness Advisory Board, member of the MAS ITAP (Monetary Authority of Singapore International Advisory Panel) and advisory Board of the SMI (Sustainable Markets Initiative) founded and co-chaired by King Charles III and Brian Moynihan. He is also the founder of Natural Capital Technologies, providing news, information and insights for investing in technologies harnessing natural capital to drive sustainability. Elizabeth Maruma Mrema TNFD Co-Chair, TNFD Read biography Elizabeth Maruma Mrema is Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Deputy Executive Director of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), in addition to her role as TNFD Co-Chair. Elizabeth has two decades of experience working in the development and environment sectors. She is biodiversity leader and lawyer, from Tanzania, with a track record of negotiating next-generation policies and enabling instruments for planet, people and prosperity. Prior to her current role, she was Executive Secretary of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). Elizabeth’s work as Deputy Director of the Ecosystems Division at UNEP focused on the development, implementation and enforcement of environmental laws both at the national, regional and international level. Elizabeth has played different roles in UNEP over the years. They included being a coordinator of capacity building, compliance and enforcement projects related to environmental law and the multilateral environmental conventions. She was a Senior Legal Officer and Chief of the Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs) Support and Cooperation Branch in the then Division of Environmental Conventions (DEC), and later a Principal Legal Officer and Chief of the Biodiversity/Land Law and Governance Branch in the then Division of Environmental Law and Conventions. In addition to her role as the Law Division Director at UNEP, she was also the Acting Director of the Corporate Services Division. Her previous work includes being the Executive Secretary of the UNEP/Secretariat of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) in which she oversaw the conservation of migratory animals globally. The Taskforce The Taskforce consists of 40 senior executives from financial institutions, corporates and market service providers with a market capitalisation of over US$2.3 trillion, over US$20.6 trillion in assets under management and offices in over 180 countries. Members are selected for their individual subject-matter expertise across nature and finance and their sector and geographical coverage. They represent sectors with the largest impacts and dependencies on nature, including agribusiness, the blue economy, food and beverage, mining, construction, infrastructure and more. They represent 18 countries from five continents. Being a member of, or participating in, the Taskforce does not involve entering a contractual partnership or other formal relationship with TNFD, nor does engagement or participation in the piloting of the TNFD beta framework or application of the framework mean TNFD endorses the member or participant’s business activities or conduct.
